    I was once hit by a Hungarian HGV while I was stationary in a jam at jct 5 of the M25. The police did attend that one but they were only interested in breathalysing us both. My insurer wanted me to claim on my policy (even though the other driver had admitted liability) but I refused as I had paid the extra premium for legal costs cover. To cut a long story short, it was over a year before we got reimbursed through the courts by the foreign insurer and a further year before Norwich Union reinstated my no-claim discount with back value, that only after more legal action. I hope the owners of the cars damaged in this incident have details of the truck's insurance, otherwise they may also face the loss of their no-claims discount if they claim on their own policies.
