anyone else going for a hospital on pfizer site if no cahnge of mind
for me it is a must , car park there , buildings there ,
ashford has 100,s houses to be built so william harvey will be at full point in a few years and car park nearly there now
margate qe2 , car parking again must nearly be at stage where needs some more soon
and whitfield getting another 3000 homes , so we will need another hospital in few years time
even could put a train platform next to pfizer as the dover to ramsgate train passes the car park
but bottom line all these ideas are the easiest route and like the ideas for asda and burlington house coming down , lets giuve the council 10 to 15 years to think about it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I and thousands of others know where you are coming from Ron, The same as other threads we all know we are right...BUT.
The people at the top have different ideas and are willing to spend ££££££££££ to tell us what we already know or spend££££££££ to tell us we are wrong, We don't win either way.

the hospital idea is a non starter, buckland is having millions spent on expanding it to a "proper" hospital.
even if that was not the case the pfizer site is more suitable for use by entreprenurial enterprises that could afford the high costs that go with it.
there is a government task force working on bringing in businesses that could work with that.

I can't understand this one: first it is "we want a hospital in Whitfield", and then, "we want a hospital in Buckland".
A hospital in Buckland is delivered, open 12/7 or 12/5 or something to that effect, and now it's "we want a hospital in Sandwich".
How often does Gov. have to tell you that there is not so much money around for so many hospitals?

Ron, to the best of my knowledge, the plan is for about 6,000 homes to be built in Whitfield, plus a number of schools.

I'm not sure if that's a UKIP view as vic has clearly made a stand against any house building in whitfield(rightly or wrongly)
going to be interesting in whitfield May's elections
with our mucker david standng for the tories, who are all in favour of the building of 6 to 10,000 houses.
local population beinmg totally opposed

Keith, the view is not a UKIP or a non-UKIP view, it is a fact that DDC have planned to build 6,000 houses in Whitfield, and not 3,000; hence I informed Ron on this, who is of the opinion that the number of houses is planned at 3,000.

I can tell you as chairman of UKIP in Dover,we are behind the Parish over this and do not want to see any housing development at Whitfield, end of story.

I also made a representation to DDC explaining why they should not go ahead with the development.
From Whitfield, prior th then, I was informed that many people there hope that the lack of funds available will greatly reduce the number of houses that might be built.

it is a done deal, the council would not get any dosh from dave and george otherwise.
it maybe called something like growth point status, someone else may clarify the details.

It is growth point status according to the last government's economic budget, but I am not sure if since then, the long-term budget plans have remained unaltered, for example regards the building of new schools.
Unless the development plan was ring-fenced, it might still be up for discussion.
Probably a bit too early to say, but time might tell.

As I remember from watching the budget through a haze of home brewed scrumpy, there are to be 10 enterprise zones in industrial regions which were announced today, one in London which Boris will chose the site for, and 10 more to be announced shortly - so there is still hope.
