More than 100 Libdem parliamentary candidates have today asked Nick Clegg to relent on his tuition fee stand. Quite clearly they see Clegg's unbelievable about face on tuition fees as a burdon too far for them to deal with while out campaigning.
The political wilderness faces not only them, but the Libdems as a whole, on account of this fiasco. And remember, it was a self inflicted fiasco.. a self wounding.

They (the Libdems) are clearly on the run. These activists want all 57 Libdem MPs to vote against tuition fees in order to save the situation. This of course would be another about turn. But then if the weather suits, the Libdems will swivel in whatever direction the wind blows, particularly if its a chill wind. And the wind is very chilly lately.

Their one time pleadge in support of the abandonement of tuition fees was clearly unconditional. However it was quickly forgotten as we know. Not only did the Libdems abandon the abolition plans, but they put the bloody fees up as well...up to £9000 a year and it might have been more.

The big vote on this is in the Commons this week...Im not sure which day. Will be interesting to see how it develops.
