    Got to agree with Keith........AGAIN?! I think that paying for food in hospital would be something most patients would not object to as, after all, if they were at home this would be a cost to them. So means testing would not come into the equation, Brian

    As for the quality of 'hospital food', most of it is adequate; the main concern should be to get better and get home again!

    There you go Howard..........an out of date sandwich, a chance to negotiate a cheaper price, or if it gave you food poisoning longer time to peruse the wine list, (Nuffield hospitals do offer wine with meals....as part of the experience).

    p.s. Many patients order but very rarely imbibe!
