My mum was blue lighted in to Margate hospital last night at 7pm,
And given morphine in the ambulance.
It was 11pm before she see an A/E doctor,
A/E full of people unable to get a lazy GP to do, out of hour's home visits
So they flooding in to A/E clogging up the system
Weldon the labour party for giving GPs there utopian work contracts

Keith, hope your Mum is ok.
Common story, after using the out of hours services we have always been told to go to A&E , only to be chastised by our GP on subsequent routine visits to the surgery.
I have never abused A&E services but know many people who, unable to get a GP appointment , have left a condition to worsen to the point where they need to be hospitalised.

"How does it work?
When you are discharged, or within the 48 hours that follow, you will be asked to answer the following question:
'How likely are you to recommend our ward/A&E department to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
You will be invited to respond to the question by choosing one of six options, ranging from 'extremely likely' to 'extremely unlikely'.
It is important that you are given the opportunity to explain why you have given your answer, so please answer any follow-up questions.
How will the results be used?
Hospitals will gather the results and analyse them rapidly to see if any action is required. They will combine your feedback with that of other patients, and create an overall score, which will be published on this website."
The bits I have italicised, to me, are the really important issues:The reasons why, and the opportunity to react.
On the other hand, the six options, and the raw collation of those results, are pretty meaningless.
Keith, I hope you mum is on the mend.

Keith, youreally don't know what you are talking about when you refer to lazy GP's. What hours do you work in a day?

In my opinion, accessing primary care is undoubtedly where the problem lies. As a result, people are bypassing the system and putting enormous pressure on hospital services. It's clearly unsustainable and requires all parties to sit down and address the issue as a matter of urgency.

nail on the head stuff kevin, not a matter for party politics.
my current gp is a total diamond just a matter of ringing the surgery first thing in the morning and getting an appointment the same day.
i woke up monday with a severe eye infection and judging by people's reaction i looked like the elephant man, i rang this morning sorted before noon and hope to go out and face people before too long.
Not too worried about what his take home pay is as long as he delivers.

I could not agree more Kevin.

If the politicians were to put as much energy into putting the wrongs right as they do squabbling with each other the system might improve.
Howard, I hope the eye is not to sore and improves soon.

Aha!! Howard, poetic justice. Those who go about photographing eye-sores....
DDC could have helped you with it, no?

I work a 50 hour week some times 56 self employed
And I am not being paid £110'000 yearly plus pension, by the taxpayers to provide a service
Labour gave GPs a 100% pay increase and then allowed them to opt out of evening and weekends working
Sorry but its all political, and A/E is crumbling under the mess
