over the weekend one of my hearing aids managed to disconnect from the ear mould. on monday late morning i rang up the k and c and explained the situation and they said they would write to me.
thought to myself probably a month for an appointment then another wait for a replacement aid which is a problem as both were programmed to complement each other meaning the one i still had was not much use.
in the post this morning was a replacement aid that works perfectly. the original programming was done at deal but the replacement came from canterbury.
great work chaps/chapesses - most grateful.

Well done Royal Mail, I SAY (rather unnecessarily, in the circumstances) WELL DONE RM!
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Just goes to show the NHS can be efficient, a big well done to that department.

what impressed me the most was the jiffy bag contained only the aid and a scribbled note with txtspk which when i deciphered it was a note to the technician to programme a new aid and send it straight on to me as i still had the mould, no bureaucracy and letter writing involved.
would be great if all departments of the n.h.s would keep it as simple.

On a similar theme, I had an appointment at the BHD eye clinic on Monday at 09.00. Leaving aside the fact that a consultant (mine) travels by train and can't get there until 09.30, the place was heaving. Three consultants were there. Those that know the area will realise that it is tiny.
Given that at least 80%, if not more, of Buckland is empty, couldn't it be shifted elsewhere in the building?

Jean's Mum, who is 92, had an audiology appointment today and Jean went in with her. The audiologist sat about 3 feet away from her Mum directly in front of her and proceeded to ask some questions. Naturally she answered everything correctly because she could lip-read - pointless meeting I thought. On the way home, she couldn't hear a thing Jean said to her.
I would have thought that the audiologist would have known about lip-reading.

that doesn't sound right roger, every time i go they slap headphones on me that are wired up to a computer and they programme it in line with my response to sounds.
i hope this is nothing to do with the age of jean's mum.

Terry surely it is a case of the consultant could not be bothered to get an earlier train that would get him there on time.

Jan - Being a hard up consultant she probably has to get a cheap day return and hence a later train!

No idea Howard, but it was a waste of time.
It may be her age, but she often asks Jean if she can hear her and Jean replies that it's not her who's deaf !!
