The terrorists have gained some success this year with Brussels cancelling theirs, Paris and many other major cities scaling back so they can be more controlled. In London 3000 armed police will be on duty and they admit that they don't have the resources to give adequate cover in other major centres.

Seriously, I think Belgians have blown it twice recently by shutting down the City. If they are their own home bred terrorists they'll just continue & grow in strength.

Gave up going to Pubs on New Year's Eve ages ago Paul, all full of youngsters tanked up, spilling their drinks then throwing up outside, some adults too. Used to be a party in Maxton that was a must go to until the couple moved out of the area a few years back. Agree over Belgium, the authorities allowed no go areas to flourish giving criminals and terrorists free rein, now they are reaping the harvest. It was said that anyone could be guaranteed to be able to buy an automatic weapon within 30 minutes of arriving in the district that I have forgotten the name of.

Let's not forget what a great job the security services have done worldwide in making sure the festivities went off safely, no mean achievement.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I spent New Years with my younger son and his family .I learnt a new game Bug Bingo. The four year old was very good at matching the bugs and won several times .I was doing well until the 18month old tipped my board up.After children went to bed we played Monopoly. Good for getting the brain cells working.
