i was impressed to read in the express this morning that the new town councillor for St Rad's will be working hard in that ward.
the main priorities being street lighting and anti social behaviour.
the only drawback is that these are are district not town council responsibilities.
surely as a district councillor in another ward she could have represented the said ward in the issues she has mentioned?

And perhaps have understood the limits and scope of her remit?

the problem is she knows the limits of her responsibilities as our local councillor.
i have only met her the once, and acknowledging the work she does in her own ward, i asked her the obvious question,"do you have the time to represent us here"?
the answer was an unequivocal yes.
that was the last time we have heard from her or seen her, that was about a year and a quarter ago.

No sign of the newly elected councillor at the Corporte Plan for Dover meeting last night either.
I Would have thought she would want to look pro-active having just gained an important job IMHO

Give the girl a break, she has only been Town Councillor for a week, perhaps she had a prior engagement that was arranged before she got elected, not every councillor goes to these meetings, I never went, and neither did a few others, if a councillor attended every meeting we would be at the office 24/7, we do have lives to lead.

Every one has a life to live but if this lady is so careing about her ward she gives up that life for the good of that ward,or is it another case She will only turn up to meetings when she gets paid for it like most of our lazy councillors only in it for the money and if thats not the case Prove it to the towns people.

This is getting silly. Were all other councillors at this meeting, I doubt it. I dont know Viv, but any councillor should be judged at the end of the term or Council cycle not at the start.

There were Labour, Dover Alliance and Conservative Town Councillors as well as a couple of District Councillors, including myself and Paul Watkins, the Leader of DDC.
I good discussion but with very few members of the public in attendance.

Not all Town Councillors get paid, I am one that does not, I chose not to be paid, I chose to be a Town Councillor, because I love the place I have lived and worked in all my life, how much do you think us Town Councillors get paid, in all honesty it is not worth getting out of bed for, would you work for just over a pound a day, because that is what it works out at, thats what it was when I was elected, it might have reached £1.50 now.

I spent 4 years as a Town Councillor Alan and in that time I received £6,yes £6 and that was for a meal I had to pay for at Goodnestone.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

this thread seems to have lost it's way.
the issue i raised was about a town and district councillor that did not seem to understand the difference between the two.
