all week elmsvale have had the street lights replaced with smaller clear lights inside of the orange ones
last year the pavements were sorted , so with a short distance to the grammar schools and 20 minute walk to highspeed trains , will soon be the place to move to before the houses go over the £ 200,000 mark !!

Both of which (street lighting and pavements) are the responsibility of Kent Highways.
We often hear of bad stories about Kent Highways, it makes a nice change to hear a good story.

Short walking to the grammar schools affects house prices?
I think you have cause and effect muddled up!

I think there is a correlation between good schools and house prices Darren; not just that, but it does help.

i seem to remember some years back in london people were pulling all sorts of stunts to make sure they lived in the catchment area of a good school.
parents would get together and rent a bedsit and never ever go there if the address was right.

I think you've muddled it as well Roger.
Perhaps there should be some kind of test (that can only be taken once) to move to areas with good street lighting and pavements.

In what way Darren ?
Street-lighting and pavements are totally different (and unrelated in terms of value) to being near a good school, but oddly, they are all the responsibility of KCC.

Not all the responsibility of KCC for long. I think there is a perfect correlation between all things mentioned. Trees on streets being an excellent indicator of social positioning.
Define 'good school' and then define 'nice area'. This is Michael Gove's problem, he fails to understand our society.
