New Seafront Gadget.
- 29 July 2011 08:16117336ColetteB couldnt resist reviving her modelling career yesterday when I tried to take a picture of our new all singing all dancing seafront gadget. i dont know if it has been mentioned before but this was the first time I noticed it. There appears to be two of them.
So I whipped out the camera like ye do, and did a bit o'snappin'... yes indeed it is a talking telescope. Well what can you say but...great stuff, Ive seen everything now. Never came across one of these before but then I probably dont get out enough.
Note: its 50p for commentary and view
and £1 for commentary and extended view
so it says on the tin, so there you have it.

I had to double check to see if it was okay to mention her age, as I dont want her coming after me wielding an axe through the air...lol!!
but she's not bothered either way.
Yes there is plenty to look at with the telescope, visitors love the shipping, nice cruise liner in today for example called 'Marina' dont remember seeing that one before, that follows on from The Costa Magica in yesterday. So plenty to look at for the visitor...and all that on top of the ferries etc. And on a clear day you can probably see them picknicking on top of Cap Gris Nez!email: dover7@msn.com - 29 July 2011 11:25117368Ah! shure they were the heady days of yesteryear when I used to strut my assets
down the catwalk, great memories though. Howard, I remember doing a photo shoot in Brighton about a hundred years ago and the 20p telescopes were on the beach then 
But honestly, a talking telescope means I have to shut up for a full minute or so, now that is hard thing for me to do

What is interesting from the Oceania site below is that is the map shows her as going to London which is described in the itinerary as London (Dover).

Heaven knows what will happen when a purpose-made cruise terminal is created in the Thames Estuary, not far from the City. Will the majority of the cruise ships that call here, not do so ?
It makes it even more important that we (someone) make Dover a cleaner, brighter and more welcoming Town, so we have a better chance of keeping them.
We must prepeare for the future, but as I've been saying this for so many years and no one has listened, will they ever ?

Of course, a lot of the passengers on port of call visits will indeed make for London on coaches. As Roger says, plans for a new cruise terminal in London have been approved, so it's vital that Dover ups its game in terms of the look of the town and how the area is marketed.
