Given they have filed for Chapter 11, I do not see it as an immediate threat to their cinemas in the UK.
The likelihood is that they will either successfully renegotiate/restructure their debt with their lenders and/or sell off underperforming assets. Those assets sold off will be sold on a going concern basis and the purchasers will be looking to run them.
The only worry is if they are unable to satisfactorily reschedule/restructure their debt and get forced into Chapter 7 bankruptcy, then all bets are off and they will likely fire sale assets/foreclose on leases etc.

Interesting one Ross.
What I do know is that I can drive to Westwod Cross with my carer to enjoy unlimited free parking. the cheapest fuel in the area, watch the same film as I can see in Dover at the Vue for £4.99, poke around some half decent shops like M&S with floors of clothes and eat in a choice of food outlets.
And all with zero chance of getting caught up in Operation Brock, Tapp and Bobtail.
Must admit the only time I entered the Dover Cineworld was when it was being built and was told by a senior council officer how wonderfully the RSJs had been cut as they didn't always meet at right-angles and the challenge of getting all the deliveries to arrive in sequence.
Meanwhile in the middle of London people were building the Shard on a plot the size of a postage stamp ..........................

From a residents perspective the best outcome would be if the uk cinemas were sold to another operator who was prepared to be price competitive - fingers crossed eh

Agreed absolutely.
Please God, no calls for DDC to get involved.

I stopped going to the cinema years ago because the sound was far to loud, I do not feel I have missed out on anything.

Realistically, other than such as Opera from the Met, all of the film's which we thought were 'worth going to see' have been on TV within months.
