just to clarify that procedure is the medical term for torture.
anyway down at the kent and canterbury today to see my consultant expecting him to cross me off his list.
he racks his brains going through all the stuff they had done to me without finding a cause for the problem.
i said that i felt o.k. and appreciated that there was nothing more he could do, however he then came up with this one.
he has referred me to st thomas's hospital in london to try out a new procedure, it involved me swallowing a pill that contains a camera that takes photos at the rate of 100's a second then eventually comes out the time honoured way, then they take a look at them.
i looked at him for a while waiting for him to start laughing, not so, i pointed out that as i was feeling o.k i did not want the hassle and cost of going to london.
then the coup de gras, he said all travel expenses would be met and i would be put up in a top hotel(probably 5 star).
i have a feeling they are looking for laboratory rats here, anybody else heard about this?

Who has the job of retrieving the camera?

I've seen plenty of crap movies in my time, but that takes the biscuit. Will it be called 'The Black Hole 2'?

it does seem like science fiction, just like m.r.i. scans, endoscopes and gastroscopes seemed years ago.
i still say that there is a lot of mileage in leeches.

Howard, there was a very informative article about this procedure on tv a few months back, they showed some fantastic results and it really is state of the *art.
And of course being digital there's no film to take out, just a chip.

I think I saw the programme seems a very clever idea.
A paid for trip to London, why not take in a theatre visit while you are on your little jolly.

I am glad they will fund your expenses. I have to pay for my own transport to K & C now, even though sometimes I go up to 5 or 6 times a month. Hospital transport no longer available to people getting DLA. Now I Have never expected or wanted to claim free transport around Dover for my various and frequent appointments but it costs £60 to K & C there and back in a taxi, or £25 with the wonderful Volunteer Bureau (to whom many thanks) and I really believe that out patients appointments should be held locally. I can't be the only Dover kidney patient can I? I should have thought it would be possible to have a clinic at Dover once or twice a month.

There are 14 kidney haemo-dialysis work-stations there already Howard. Not sure that they have a full-time consultant though.

i remember you posting that roger, all coming back.
must save a lot of stress, expense and travelling time for many.
A while back I made use of some private health insurance to have a tooth seen to under a general anaesthetic. If it hadn't been for the tooth I could have enjoyed it - G&T before dinner, wine with, choice of menu, en suite, pleasant clean nurses and a comfy bed. For a while I thought I was at home until I realised the gin wasn't Sapphire.......
