Daily mail scaremongering again, next october you won't be able to spend them but you can exchange and deposit them at banks and post offices for the foreseeable future.

I think some people have only recently realised that they are not legal tender after Sunday judging by how many I am getting in my change from shops. Now it transpires that some machines cannot take the new ones, chaos beckons.

I have nearly got rid of my old ones but as I usually use my card when shopping have yet to get a new one when shopping, luckily I have seen what the new ones look like. They seem to have given a much shorter time between these new coins introduction and the old going in comparison with previous money changes.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

With our new £1 coin £5 and £10 pound notes with a new £20 note due in 3 years I think we have a long way to go yet before cards are the only option.
