A property tycoon and a former investment fund manager have been named as the driving forces behind a plan to create a new force on the far-right of British politics.
The Independent revealed last week that the English Defence League plans to run candidates for the first time in local elections, after a deal with another far-right group, the British Freedom Party, formed by former members of the British National Party.
Ann Marchini, who runs a buy-to-let property empire, confirmed to The Sunday Times that she is a member of the British Freedom Party and a friend of its chairman, Paul Weston.
Alan Ayling, also known as Alan Lake, was a director of Pacific Capital Investment Management until earlier this year. In October, he was named by a prosecutor in Oslo as someone Norwegian police wanted to question about the murders of 77 people by Anders Behring Breivik in July. Mr Ayling was thought to have been one of Breivik's sources of inspiration.
Both are said to have been at a "pivotal" meeting of EDL activists held at Mr Ayling's flat in London in 2009.

Why?
Having lots of money doesnt automatically make you a decent person, perhaps they see this as a way of progressing their views, or maybe they are double agents and see it as a way of forcing the government to clamp down on the right?

i would have thought it pretty obvious, we already have a far right party that has probably a handful of councillors aound the country that are totally ineffectual.
splitting the vote into two would be quite laughable, all money down the drain.

Ross, I doubt they are double agents trying to lead the Government into banning the right.
Not being part of BNP, their future actions could not be attributed to BNP.

No government should ban the extreme right or the equally vile extreme left either. This is a democracy and if you start in that direction you will give them a massive boost a glamour that they do not deserve.

I agree with Barry, to ban Labour would give them some sort of a boost

Are you saying the Conservative Party is now a soft-left party Keith ?
I agree they do seem to have taken Labour's left-of-centre position.

ROGER';
Whilst i'm no expert on the tory party(why wouild i be)
Barry's dave is clearly trying to take the middle england ground, but there we see labour/tory fighting it out
but barryw's dave has the added problem of his anti europe members who are becoming strong in number, dave knows he has to keep them sweet, which hes now finding it to be to his disadvantage.
hes looking weaker than ever to the world at large
but more so to the uk residents.
so no not realy sure where the tory party is
its certainly never going to be a soft left, not with the right wing members it has in the party whilst dave tries to flannel over this, the cracks are opening
but wherever you do, don't mention the lib dems lol
i would laugh if it wasn't all so serious

Actually Keith he is looking stronger on the world stage. Using the veto will strengthen his hand massively as they will not take him for granted any more. Regardless of the Europhile spin. Keith - I do not know what that comment was mean't to be in #11 but I suggest you re-read exactly what I said in the sentence you seem to refer to because I think you did not do so properly.
We are a right wing party, plain and simple, we are also a Eurosceptic party - that we can be very proud of. The government is not a Conservative one sadly and Roger is mixing up what a Conservative government would be and what the coalition is.

Actually Cameron has lost points on the world stage..........his unilateral decision to defend City Financial Services
dominance ( a lost cause ) and appease the 81 group etc. has hindered the eurozone recovery and made him
vulnerable on several fronts and isolated Great Britain.
Humble pie will be the order of the day.

reg;
I share you view, barryw's dave has scored some real big own goals, and he will have great problems climbing out of this one.
barryw;
what you cant go on doing is blaming the lib dems for the tories cock ups.
I actually agree with you that the conservative party is one of the most right wing ever
what barryw's dave is trying to do is pretend the right wing don't exist
but thats not helpful to the general public or the right wing of his party who now have there claws out for him

The Conservative Party is a right of centre Party, but being in a coalition means they are a left of centre government.
Us right-wing Conservatives are not overly happy, but for the sake of keeping Britain on the right track as far as the deficit reduction is concerned, we accept it is the best thing at present.
Keith, I took your comment "the soft tory party" to mean that you thought we had moved further to the left - where you used to be.

roger;
im pleased you class me as an old soft left
many class me as ultra left wing
myself i have a far more balanced view these days
i have tried to show this in postings
where realy the tag left/right is far more harder to find
there is no doubt the right wing tory led party are far from the tory led govt
and this will come back to bite barryws dave in time to come
as barryw is aware the warning shots over europe have been sent out where by the right wing conservative party want action from barry's dave
but he wants power and so is trying to pretend the conservative party is summat that it is not.
it will all end in tears
