The comparison I made Dave related to the hours charged - Dover District is 9am to 6pm with only a very few places where charges apply on Sundays.

Shepway, Thanet & Canterbury all charge 12 hours, either 7-7 or 8-8 over a 7/24 period in many places and a couple have night charges too.

Picking up on another point above, Canterbury's main tourist attraction is in the city centre whereas Dover's is on a hill outside and visiting coaches come in from the A2 and back out the same way - we need to link the Castle and other places of interest with the town centre better but it will be very costly.

Back to the main point of this thread - The new arrangements referred to that come into force nationally today result from the Traffic Management Act 2004. Dover currently have no plans to use CCTV for parking enforcement.
