Irrelevant to those who have been onboard for two weeks as they get relieved during the day. Depending on which schedule their ship is on, this will be at 0900, 1100, 1300 or 1500. Therefore the earliest that any local will be in the town will be 1000 so they can have a drink in normal hours if they are that desperate. However, the majority live in other parts of the country or on the continent. Many will be driving long distances so a drink is irrelevant until they get home. Others will be heading for the train station on their way to various airports and will probably quaff their first libation in the airport bar.

Speaking for myself, I just want to get home and put my feet up. Very different from the old days before live onboard, twenty years or so ago, when we all lived locally and worked either days or nights. It used to be a mad rush to get off after a 14 hour day and race to the pub before it closed. I lost count of the number of times I would hurtle into the nearest pub to the docks in time to hear "Time gentlemen please. Haven't you got homes to go to?!!!"
