Re post 40 by Roger Walkden. You may like to look at new premises licensing applications lodged with DDC (which as a DDC councillor you get notice of). There is an application for a premises license for White Cliffs Convenience store, 141 Folkestone Road and with reference to sale of alcohol. At first I thought the address was for general shop in the parade but then worked out that the address is indeed the address of the the medical practice. Strange.
Agree with Jan Higgins this issue of opening such long hours for the sale of alcohol is a red herring when shift workers are mentioned. There are only one group of people who need early opening hours.
If it is the medical practice (and perhaps there is a mistake) selling alcohol does not sit well with a medical, facility. We all know the harm that excessive alcohol brings. And although not my ward am going to follow issue up with DDC in case been a mistake.
