Must say a few words of praise to DTC DDC KCC for all the improvements to the street furniture in Dover Town Centre. The new lights are lovely.Still prefer Civic black but at least they are Tory blue.its the drunks and some peoples negative attitude which lets Dover down. You can not blame the Councillors for that
I have reported that the paving slabs are still missing on the round about end of Folkestone road .They were damaged when we had the riots earlier this year .This is when our local Councillors need to use their eyes.

To be fair I think it is more a case of the relevant council departments doing the job quickly instead of weeks or months later from the problem being reported.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

No Jan you report something and keep chasing.I used to keep a log book when I first became a Councillor,if no action after a time lapse then I was on the case again. Its not all about meetings .

My point was that you should not have to chase these departments they should automatically do the jobs within a reasonable time.

KCC are hopeless at doing some repairs, a car demolished the lamp post/bus stop next door to me 20 months ago and when I log into their site and quote their reference number all I get is "in progress".
I have reported countless times lights shining brightly all day and nothing happens, instead they remove working ones in dark locations.

It's the tax payers money and should be used for the Town and people and not wasted on frivolous parties and dinners

What frivolous parties and dinners and more importantly why did I not get invited?

'From the slumland wards of the riverfront came councillors whose primary purpose for being in politics was to obtain a social status and satisfaction that was denied them in their everyday lives. These people had little concern with the policies that the leadership pursued. They were interested in status and their support could be won by a leader who would reward their loyalty with prizes that were, in themselves, unimportant but to the recipient they conferred privilege. Membership of the Parks and Gardens Committee is rarely of political significance, but to an unskilled labourer who is used to no social respect, the committee's lunches and tours of inspection can afford considerable satisfaction'.
