Some years ago they asked the D.H.B. to put up lights along the front ,they turned it down,And I think the D.H.B. were right in turning the plan down they would look out of place along the kind of front we have at Dover .Margate yes but not Dover.Sorry but that is how I feel about it in shop windows OK but not along the front.

Brilliant idea Heike, as you say, everyone loves lights. Just imagine the view from the ferries as they approach the docks, it would give a happy feeling before they disembark. Yes to the pier and the seafront, love the idea. Also the fountain - what a good idea.
I think you should become Dovers next Mayor, you have such good ideas

When the the seafront was modernised with the new shelters etc there were a series of lights in the ground by the big shelter where the statue of the swimmers is, they did not last long.

Oh wow! Neil - what a spectacular display.
Wouldn't it be great if we could have something like this in Dover? So beautiful
Hey Heike - you started something there

It is pretty incredible and each month they change the music that it is set to. The town's administrators have set up viewing stands all around the fountain area which are filled to capacity almost every night with people from all over the region and, indeed, the world. When we were there visiting family over Christmas, the fountains were dancing to Barcelona as performed by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé.

Neil this is fabulous!! But I think we should go with small steps ahead and if it works out, then more can be added.
Little Steps great Success

My comment Heike was just to say that there were lights on the prom, and very smart they were too, I fully support your idea. The Marina Hotel has coloured lights outside in the evenings and they look very good, also the Swingate.
