My son who works at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford has spotted this in a trade journal:
Sorry, you may have to lie down to read the article!

i saw something on this a week or two back, the land that it currently stands on must be worth a small fortune in that part of canterbury.
i would imagine that the proposed new site will have a lot more car parking spaces.

Seems a sensible idea especially as Canterbury Hospital is rather strung out, sale of the present site should go a long way to funding a new one. I wonder if it would be next to the Park and Ride that certainly make it easier for those of us living in this district.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Yes the houses on that site would sell like hotcakes and cost a few bob each.

Light years away this one. This is part of Canterbury Local Plan which has not been taken through all it's processes. It also needs a new road network built from Sturry side through to New Dover Road.
That will need government money as well as developer contributions. Not even in agreed transport plans heading to 2020

Peter you're right but this is current transport plan has only been forwarded this week. They currently don't have an approved plan let alone a scheme to deliver the roads. So on the basis of your timing supposition, perhaps in a fortnight.
In the meantime one or two of the three current hospitals has to go to provide sufficient expertise & training for doctors. After all it's only our lives. So the question will still remain, Ashford, Canterbury or Thanet.
Buckland & Folkestone have already been sacrificed.
