Welcome Ian I look forward to reading your posts.
The forum is populated by triballists on both sides with the odd one like me holding all party politicians in contempt. That said I find Farage entertaining and relate to a lot of his views.
Good luck

Thanks for the welcome...... I think
Looking forward to engaging. And as Keith so eloquently put I am the chairman for the local branch of UKIP so that may find some interesting comments from the valued members of this site.

Ian - welcome. Some good debate ahead maybe. On the subject of the EU we will not be far apart, even though we will disagree on tactics.

traditionally ukip members have contributed most to forum political debate, the originals have fallen away, hopefully ian will kick start things again.

Welcome aboard Ian, perhaps you can throw some light on whether Paul McMullen was standing for UKIP in the upcoming local elections and if he was why he is now standing as a Independent? apologies if this is covered elsewhere.

We may not disagree that much, however, we may disagree totally. What drew me to UKIP in the first place is the fact that members are encouraged to have their own opinions and promote them even if the party line is not exactly the same. The focus is the people. The candidates standing all around the UK are doing it for the people. Sounds cheesy, it may, but its fact. If the councillor doesn't focus on the people he or she may be dropped from standing again should the members vote for it.
So although I am not the most eloquent person on the planet, I want to show that the local candidates standing and I are not party puppets.
Disagree or not on the EU, let's have a discussion.

Thank you for the continued welcomes. Paul was indeed set to stand as a UKIP candidate. There was an item that the party was not totally comfortable with and as such was asked not to stand for UKIP until the matter was completely resolved when the application for candidacy would be looked at again.
Paul, as you all know, is standing as an independent for the May 2nd County election and I wish him every success. Fortunately he is not standing against a UKIP candidate in the division that he is standing.
