we used to have at least one before - 3 questions here.
a) why is the folkestone road not included?
b) where will they find the man power to cover this?
c) if someone has their collar felt where will they be taken to?

The problem is one of addiction.
Only when we start locking people away from there poison until they are no longer addicted will we start to help these people
A long time away from there addition, with time to be normal is the only way
You can go into the nick addicted to heroin or booze, the doctors will just medicate you with some other prescription poison ,then send you out the door still an addict.
Give them nothing and send them out free.

No idea Howard why Folkestone Rd wasn't included, there's enough cans thrown over garden walls to show there's a lot of it up here.
Keith B, yes it is one of addiction, drink and/or drugs, but not bering addicted to either, I cannot say how people are when they go "cold-turkey" - pretty bad I understand, so the medical profession have to slowly, slowly wean them of, but it doesn't seem to be very successful, does it ?

i have reg'd this from the opening statement, alcohol and/or drugs are a secondary issue
"The Designated Dispersal Area is in action until April 27, 2014 and allows officers to disperse groups causing intimidation, alarm or distress".
folkestone road from the station down to my road is the most obvious place to qualify for the above action, i haven't seen many people affected by alcohol or drugs there just intimidation.

There should be no such thing as a Designated Dispersal Area this problem should be tackled wherever it is.
I agree with Howard's doubts about there being enough enforcers. Nice to see you this morning Howard, a shame our chat was interrupted.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

There is already concern amongst our neighbours at Victoria Park about the drunks/ addicts gathering at the steps up to the castle. No doubt they have been moved along from the town centre. Not very welcoming for tourists.

Judith, when my kids were at St. Mary's in Laureston Place, there was a dealer living next door to the entrance. They were using the steps that go down to Maison Dieu Road to 'shoot up', so I managed to get details to criminal intelligence about not only the dealer, but his supplier too. They acted on this very quickly, so I feel if you have problems like that, the police will deal with it.

Thank you Barrie. I haven't seen anything as explicit as that. It is good to know that the police will act appropriately.

Maybe the lottery cash could improve youth club facilities, to remove youths from the street and into more useful activities.
Presuming the youths is of British extraction and reasonability.
If not then the second option would be EU withdraw and removal of the problem would be the alternative preference.

When the Beaconsfield/London Road area was a dispersal zone a few years ago the problem just moved into the town. Methinks the reverse will now happen.
