New definition of a garage

  Just looking at DDC planning website prior to a parish council meeting and didn't know whether to laugh or cry in despair at this letter from KCC - a brand new double garage has been redefined as a 'necessary cycle storage facility' and cars are expected to be parked on the driveway.

  Many garages now are full of furniture or used by the self employed to store their equipment, does this mean they should apply for "change of use"?

  Most modern garages are too small for the average family car anyway. Cars have got wider, garages haven't.

  This one is a double garage 21ft x 21ft - you could store quite a few in there while your car is slowly rusting outside.
  
  What got me was the wording "the garage can count as providing the NECESSARY secure, covered cycle parking" (my capitals) - will planning applications now be refused if they haven't got this necessity?
