Saw one earlier and they have the most impractical and uncomfortable seats imaginable. I think the money would have been better spent on putting shelters where there are presently none and keeping the current ones that don't really need replacing.

And whilst in the middle of Somerset, powered by solar panels, in the bus-shelter a display will tell me when the next bus is due to the nearest minute in real-time, here in Dover we are lucky if we find an out-of-date timetable covered in graffiti!
Pathetic.

There is always someone that will find a novel use for our bus shelters.

The new(ish) VDU in Pencester told me that the 15 was running 10 minutes late. It arrived and left on time!

All the ones up the town were taken away a week or two before the new ones appeared.

I saw two being dismantled today, one outside of Iceland and the other outside the Railway station the latter is fairly new. When councils everywhere are pleading poverty this just seems an extravagance.

It's not being paid for by the council but by the advertising contractors who own them - there has been a change of contract. I noticed this afternoon that the 'spare' one in Priory Street has been removed - not sure when as I haven't got a bus from there in a while.

I understand that it isn't the council paying for the work, they have changed contractors for the replacement, repair and upkeep and the old company is taking theirs with them they should pay for themselves from the advertising boards incorporated in them and provide additional income above and beyond.

The first replacement bus shelter in Pencester Road is the one Brian uses some favouritism there. The seats are unbelievably uncomfortable.

Noticed this morning that the bus shelter in York Street is being replaced despite no buses stopping there. The Port courtesy bus did for a while before the service was halted and the 93 parks up now and then if ahead of the timetable.
