Next day it was most class room work,telling us all how to jump out of a landing craft,we was told to jump out from the side of the craft because the landing craft will still be moving forward when they drop the front and it could go over the top of you if you jump from the front also we do not know how deep the sea water will be it could be only a foot or it could be 6 foot we just do not know,also it is about the waves they roll back so you think you on the sands but then then the waves roll back and you get coved over,try and keep you gun dry and above your head when you jump and keep hold of it at all times ,if you are also carrying a bag you must make sure it is tied on around you.you lorry or land rover will land from the bigger craft you must also before you go in the morning make sure the landrover and trailer are roped down and nothing can fall out. Last thing is DO NOT JUMP TILL TOLD TO BY A CREW MEMBER.
You all are now going out in a craft just to find your place in the boat in the morning and get the feel of being in one at sea they are flat bottom and will roll around so hold on till told to jump, but you will not be jumping today.It was very cold out there and it was in the winter which was not a help.When we got on the craft we found out we was the first to jump out,The Dr said"Matcham you will go first then me and last will be the priest ,keep you eyes on us because we have never done anything like this before and if one of us call out for help ,if you can try and get to us,"Both him and the priest were not fit which was not a help. Well we went out for the trip and both of them were feeling sea sick and we had not gone out of the harbour yet.We got very wet because the waves were coming over the top. But we made it back and got dry and they had a hot meal ready for us all.So it was to bed then.
