This was done in the same way till all the bands took up their places on the Bandstand ,Being the band of Kneller hall we was the very last band to march down and take our place .
It was all worked out in order of each section of each band was on the same step =ie,Drums at the very back and on the highest part of the bandstand and then the bass sections and so on right down to us on the front row Clarinets and flutes etc.And we also had coloured lights going off and on and moving spot lights.
It was great to be part of it all over 5000 members of the public there +officers and their familys.
And all of us was standing there waiting for the Royal family to turn up and take their places on the stage at the back even the members of the public turned round to face the stage, and as they came out there was clapping from the public and H.M The Queen mother was first followed by the rest of the Royal Family once they were standing by the chairs we played God save the Queen when she siting down then all the public turned around again to face us on the bandstand ,
Must say it was a great concert Mr Sharp was the very first conductor up on the rostrum to take us into the first music number of the night. Then it was the turn of the best of the best s/bandmasters to take over and yes it was going along very good and I was loving it all.
