He looked at me and this what he said
"You bandsman on the Ef Clarinet stand the one with the big ears take your hat off"

"No it cannot be Matcham "he called out
"Please tell me some one it is not Matcham"?
"Yes sir it is me."I should not have said a word at that time because this what he said next.
"Matcham that voice of yours,it was you on the gate last week and you would not let my wife or myself in because I did not have my ID card on me, am I right or wrong?"
"Yes sir I must say you are right but I was just following orders Sir".
Then leaning over the rostrum he said in a soft voice "Well Matcham I hoped you liked your first 8 months at Kneller Hall because you might find it very hard going for the rest of the year.
