Well the rehearsal began with some of the Student bandmasters getting up and learning how to conduct a very big band for the first time and must say some were not that good
and what did not help them was Col McBain who was top gun then at Kneller hall as I said already he was a very big Malt Whisky drinker and a hard man to get on with and was always shouting at the S/bandmasters and getting on to them all the time ,I must say he was well over top in the way he would shout at them and was making life hell for them.
I have seen him jump up on the rostrum and take the baton off a bandmaster who at the time was conducting the band and push him off the rostrum telling him he was no good +swearing at both him and the band.
