The next time I came across Mr Sharp was when we was playing at a concert in Canterbury,this was to be my last one before getting posted to the Buffs or passing and getting to Kneller hall,
After the concert Mr Sharp came over to the boys band and told us we played well.
He then called me to one side.
"Well Matcham you will be please to know that I have been posted away from the buffs so the time you get there I would have gone so I will say goodbye.
"May I aske where you are going sir"?
"Yes Matcham as we will not meet up again I will tell you.I am going to be the new bandmaster of Kneller Hall in two weeks time and I think we both know that you will not pass the music examination to get there next week.
So that was that we said our goodbyes and off he went.
