Sometimes I got things right like the night I was working with the second projectionist ,I was keeping a eye on things while she was having her tea break ,I was on my own at the time and then I could smell burning and looking around I saw one of the projectors motors was on fire..
We all had training with what to do in case of fire ,so first was to push the fire button then turn the lights up in the cinema and close the fire safe curtain on the stage,and then put the fire blanket over the fire which did put the fire out,it was all over in a very short time.
Later that night I was called to the mangers office got a big thank you +I got a pay rise of 10 bob a week which is 50p now.
