12:5477228A big thank you to the organisers who go out of their way to ensure that these are fun.
The Halloween one, on Wednesday, was excellent.
There are some more before Christmas which are always good, too.
I hope we don't lose our lovely museum in the cuts.

15:4077253I used to go to these family days Penny several years ago and they were always fun. yes its a lovely museum.
We did have a big feature on the museum closure issue on our frontpage a short while back. A press release from Labour which we ran on the frontpage suggested the museum would close under Tory cuts. It caused some wild irritation in the Tory camp. Paul Watkins head honcho in that same Tory camp said - No this wouldnt happen.
So thats the current state of play on closure.

21:2177335Museums are wonderful places for young people if they get involved. I was lucky enough to live very near the old museum in the bowels of the Town Hall, and visited it frequently, and made friends with the curator. I got to see all the interesting stuff not on general display - I particularly remember the cases of butterflies - and I began my love of history, antiques and archaeology there. I was one of a fortunate few, the way museums operate these days, far more kids have the opportunity to see what it is all about.
