Great news and announced on the day that Hollywood is in town filming the new Disney movie, Into the Woods, at Dover Castle!

This certainly is good news for Dover, I just hope there aren't any unnecessary/further delays. I hope alsdo this prompts those who are holding on for a better price for their property in the DTIZ area, will now make it unnecessary for CPOs.

I think we all need to keep our feet on the ground when we hear anything about the new build of Dover,it is nothing we have not heard in the pass and it ends up with nothing being done.

I've got everything crossed. My sympathy is with the residents living near/ overlooking the bomb site, they have been holding their breath for too long!
Not negative but a question only, how much parking space will be required for such a large complex? Will it now throw out the previous design for the site and how long will it take to readjust the planning application?

That is certainly good news, being "negative" I just hope I live long enough to see it open or at least to see the building work started.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I really can't understand you being so negative Vic, after all, we have the substandard cycle track partly finished, there's a great success story in itself, and you must also consider the substantial amount of money that has been wisely spent on various consultations regarding the DTIZ, which should have transformed the area. These things take time my friend. You can't expect stuff to be done instantly, its all down to visions and consultations, things that us mere mortals know very little about.

Mr Nicoll is 40odd years of waitng and being told it is going to happen soon and all you can come up with is a partly finished cycle track, but it has been both partys that have let Dover down not just the blues,as Mrs Higgins said "If I live to see it done then great." But I think you are saying what you have as a joke.

I hope so anyway.

So, we can't get rid of Burlington House, we can't finish a cycle track, Snoops (Weatherspoons in Castle St) remains an eyesore, the old crypt site remains unused as does the old Brittania site. The 'new' cinema complex has been coming to Dover for years yet never arrives.
But let's not be down hearted! Those in the know tell us almost daily that Dover regreneration is on track and all will be done and dusted within the next 50 years.......I can hardly wait!

the multiplex cinema is not a longstanding thing, it was first mentioned back in march of this year.

70 years of negativity Sue?
I don't think that withholding belief until the point that the footings go in is negative - it's called being realistic. I think, given our position overlooking the wasteland that is DTIZ, we are better qualified than the majority to comment.
In and amongst the joy that this news brings, spare a thought for the Silver Screen Cinema, which won't be able to compete for business. I've long enjoyed going to watch films there, I like the atmosphere.

i don't see this as the end for the silver screen cinema, they have a loyal following that like the atmosphere and the tea in a china cup.
there is a place in the market for them much the same as some small pubs survive against the big pub companies by looking after their customers.
