My wife shops there every day...supports the local town shops and hates the big out of town supermarkets.

Dover town needs to retain as many "Brand Leaders" as possible.

The rumour has been going around for weeks with one saying M&S wanted a larger store and had considered the DTIZ site...This would be fantastic.

From my visits the food does well but there are very few using the clothes section...my wife has to go to Canterbury for a wider choice of clothes if she wants to buy at M&S.

Barry...I think the Council can stipulate conditions as when I lived in Shepway District and Sainsbury wanted their "out of town" it was only granted if the town store remained for (I believe) ten years. Still there after some 15 to 20 years proving there is a market for town and out of town. Had Shepway not put this condition then almost certain they would have closed and no town Sainsbury. Pity DDC hadn't done the same when Sainsbury closed town store to go to Whitfield and as they (Sainsbury) had purchased the lease from Charlton Centre in effect blocking any other supermarket using the site and producing what is now one of the eyesores of Dover with such a large unused retail site.
