People will rant all day long about how disgusting it is and how they disagree with it but it won't make any difference, they'll still get the pay rise and each one of them will think they deserve it.We are all in this together my Arse.

£.74000 basic for a job that does not need any qualifications is good in anyone's book.
in a poll 2/3rds of our honourable members thought they were underpaid - i have never heard anyone in any walk of life say they were overpaid.

they can all turn this around in their favour should they choose to by simply donating the extra in their packets to food banks or other worthy causes.
this is a great opportunity to show that they are in tune with the electorate.

MPs should be paid a basic salary of 48 hours per week at minimum wage, plus a small daily attendance allowance, plus a bonus depending on their performance, as rated by their constituents. I would have no objection to an outstanding MP being paid £100k in total, but there are some idle creatures on both sides of the house who don't deserve their current pay.

Cut the number of MPs and divide what is saved between the rest.
Stop their second home allowance, a system that is open to obvious abuse but let them claim an average London B&B rate for each night on Parliamentary business or provide them with a simple hostel.
Do away with subsidised bars and restaurants and let them pay the going rate.
