A sure way to boost the economy of the town centre would be to move the offices from Whitfield to the town centre.
The underused Maison Dieu car park is a possible site, as is the K College campus, which could be moved elsewhere in the town.
The council offices could then be converted to housing, so it is win-win.

not sure of the logistics but if it could be done the town centre would be regenerated by officers using our cafes and shops during their lunch breaks and after work instead pouring their money into t###co nearby.
they might also take a short walk down the Folkestone road and see what many of us have to put up with.

That would never happen that building is not old I was just one of many working on it costing millions to put up.Dover District council already have a open office to the public and a good one in the town.
There would be no gain,no point in doing what you said.
Just think with all the cuts they are having to do now to try and make ends meet.
They were in the Town centre and where you are talking about in the 1960s then moved to the site they are now.

I would like to know how the business of local government is really conducted. This town needs shaking up from top to bottom.- out of its world of red tape, silly ceremonies, tortuous planning laws and general inertia so that people who want to really get things done can get things done.
The economic model on which Dover's future is based - building thousands of homes to buy in unwanted populations from London on the promise that shops will open up to serve the new customers - is pitiful. Has it come to this?

Then try to get a seat of power and then see what you can do that is better.
Very easy to sit back and say what needs to be done just try doing it your self.Elections next year so go for it.
I have tried but got no where over 20years, so I look forward to see what others can do.

maybe you can have as much or perhaps more influence not being in power, judging by the results achieved by those in charge.
