Pubs are so much better now without that foul smoke. One of very few good pieces of legislation passed by the last government.
That was not a nanny state measure but one needed because of selfish and ignorant smokers who made restaurants and pubs a misery for those who did not want their clothes smelling terribly or to choke on smoke. Its a bit pathetic this continued whining from smokers who are incapable of going without a fag with a pint. Get over it and enjoy a drink in clean air.
Many pubs are going out of business but that trend did not start with the smoking ban, it was going on well before that. Cheap supermarket loss leading alcohol is a bigger menace to pubs and maybe the minimum pricing will help the pub trade.
