    There lies the problem, another court might rule against in a similar case. It wasn't that long ago that if one half of a same sex relationship died the remaining one would be kicked out of a council house and other benefits denied. This was solved when civil partnerships came in but I don't think this applies to straight couples yet although it seems inevitable that the law will change fairly soon.
