  My parents wore barber coats when out on the (Douglas, naturally) motorbike.* Curiously, the barber in the village preferred a white jacket akin to a bus driver's summer uniform.
  
  * This was normally during the winter months when the car was put away. Apparently the reasoning went that it was safer to deliberately fall off a skidding bike than it was to be trapped inside a skidding car. I never followed this logic as the Rover was more than capable of mowing down everything in its path, and on occasion did.
