14:4483581apparently the above is in serious decline.
it thrives in apple orchards, in the west country supplies have fallen by 60% over 60 years in the counties of somerset, worcestershire and herefordshire.
cornwall and kent show a decline of 90% over the same period.

16:1483592Has anyone grown mistletoe? For several years now, after Christmas I have put some berries in thin cuts on our apple and oak tree branches without success.
I believe that to grow on apple you have to have berries from plant grown on apple, and so on.
Any hints ??

17:0583595To reduce this to base level..Does this mean that none of us are getting kissed this year!!? very worrying to see the decline of mistletoe on so many levels!!
Although I suspect the newer generations dont know what it is and probably have never seen it.

18:4183613This is what happens when the old orchards are destroyed.
I have not bothered with mistletoe in years, which was deliberate when we had the pub, anyone who has worked in one will understand why.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

12:5983682There is a huge mistletoe bough on one of the trees around the top car park at Barham Crem. If anyone feels like going there to get it....

13:1085138Have found, on RSPB website, some very useful How to Grow Mistletoe hints, which appear very useful. Why not have a go? To need to use as many berries as you can, and put them onto young branches, apple, poplar, lime, hawthorn, false acacia, etc. have a look:
