I spent Saturday morning in the minor injuries unit at Buckland Hospital. My mate needed treatment so I drove him there and took a seat whilst he checked in with the very nice receptionist. He was quickly followed by a mother and daughter."Sit down "said the caring daughter.Mother nodded and sat down next to me.

"My dog bit me" she exclaimed "oh dear" I replied."It's never done it before "she said pointing at the small wound on her arm."Best to get it checked out"I said "but you want to try feeding the brute " I added ,jokingly. She laughed but her daughter turned around from the reception desk with a scowl."I don't think it's serious"she added"No a quick amputation should sort it "I replied.Mother laughed again but by this time her daughter approached and quickly marched her mother to more suitable seating area.
Next in were 2 girls aged about 17years."I fink I've got a broken nose "said the tall slim teenager."How did that happen?"the receptionist enquired."My boyfriend smacked me in the face last night"she replied.Take a seat
Next in was a Mr Bean lookalike."I would like a Doctor to check an insect bite".he demanded. When did this occur?the receptionist asked "3 weeks ago"
    "where did you get bitten"
Germany..he replied "No where on the body" she exclaimed.
He pointed to his left breast..just above his tit..how appropriate I thought."Take a seat please.
He then spent 5 minutes asking how long it would be before he was seen....
Next in were 2 ladies with appointments to have their dressings changed.
Followed by a young lad decked out in a Chelsea football kit..poor lad was in agony with a suspected fractured collar bone...he went straight in to see the Nurse.
Within the space of 30 minutes 14 patients were waiting or being treated. What would they all do without this service?
Gwyn and Charlie want to spend a morning up there..and see just exactly what goes on.
"They didn't have to amputate my mothers arm" said the daughter sarcastically as she led her 91 year old mother to safety."Aye it's amazing how things have progressed sinced Nelsons Day"I said smiling. The mother turned around and winked at me as she left the building.
Please let us support Buckland in their campaign and God Bless the staff.
