  in the last 14 days milk has gone to war.yes the humble cow juice,good for custermers if nothing else.
  
  asda 2 4 pinters for 2 quid making them a quid each.
  pound land a 4 pinter will cost you a pound.
  news in not to be out done a 4 pinter will cost 95p,yes 95p a bargin.
  
  so all good,compitition in town.makes you wonder who will win out in the end.

  trouble is dairy farmers are going out of business on a regular basis because of the pressure put on them by the supermarket giants.

  yes howard thats the down side,but wouldnt call news in a multi nat.like asda or poundland.just a small indiependant compeating with the big boys.

  Perhaps this is yet another 'loss-leader' to attract the shopper to the store. Such schemes are common and famously involve alcohol. Milk however could be considered a food-staple, but if it is costing the store their profit margin on milk it is not having an increasingly detrimental effect on the producer.
  
  "The shopper demands cheaper and cheaper products." (?)
  So...
  Payments to suppliers, producers and employees must also go down.
  If...
  Payments went up. (?)
  Produce could be dearer and of higher quality. (?)
  BUT...
  Increased profits may suffer. (?)
  
  The time is at hand to invest in 'Magic Bean' futures?
  Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

  I just got a 2 pinter in M&S and I thought I was at the cutting edge paying just 89p. M&S are not specifically known for low prices so I was quite pleased...but then I saw Brian's post above..arrrrgh! But that must be a very special special Brian.
  
  Although.. M&S milk is clearly posh....lol!!

  always good to shop around on the milk front, certainly m and s wouldn't be in this type of market.
  
  of course the multi nationals can cut the price, but poundland can probably out do them so howard's right, its the farmers that get squeezed
