Is anyone on the forum used to searching World War One military records?
I am trying to find the records for a Charles BIRCH, born 1879 at Nonington, Kent.

Kathy
I assume you are familiar with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's website at
http://www.cwgc.org I have had a quick look but couldn't find anything that seemed to link to this Charles Birch.
There is also the Forces War Records website at:
http://www.forces-war-records.co.uk but they require payment so I haven't looked at this!
Is he a Tilmanstonian?

He was in the Artillery. No not of Tilmanstone, born I think maybe Adisham. Was not killed in the First War. So not on the War Graves website.

I'll get the better half to see whether she can help. That is one of her hobbies, obsession whatever you choose to call it. She has ventured into the darkest depths of our family trees and has some sort of connection with anything to do with WW1. I know that she swears by
www. ancestry.co.uk and I know that there is a section on there all about WW1.

Maybe the Dover War Memorial Project could help ? Marilyn Stephenson-Knight does a great job researching Dover's war dead.
