    Bearing in mind that the programme is fiction and telling a story, it can do what the heck it likes if it tells the story well enough. It could, if it had a mind, populate it with tiny green androids with seven eyes who climb inside their own faces to sleep if it carried the plot. As PaulB says, we have Eastenders (pauses to spit) if we want a bit of grit in our eyes, and even that isn't "representative". I wonder what exactly TV bosses want "represented"?
