Very good Howard! I must admit I wondered if the Luftwaffe would really have risked three fighters and a spotter plane flying slowly in formation for a photo opportunity so close to enemy shore. Could it be somewhere near Calais? However, the possibility exists that it may have been taken by a British aircraft as the photo is marked as belonging to the RAF museum.

To be really geeky, I reckon the observing aircraft from which the photo was taken was a Henschel Hs126 from the arrangement of the wing spars in the foreground. I'll get my coat.
