The normal Christmas carnival there has been cancelled due to their Town Council refusing the usual grant, wouldn't happen in Dover.

1) The application breached grant guidelines.
2) It was introduced as 'the last Winter Carnival in Kent' and support has been diminishing year on year so it was probably about time it was put out of its misery.
3) As I said at the meeting I have three daughters, it's 2017 and I refuse to support any organisation that still revolves around 'Carnival Queens'. We should be empowering young girls rather than putting them into an event which would not look out of place at a Butlins Holiday Camp in the 1960s.

In passing it would appear that on the Facebook thingy under various profiles someone is having a go at Deal Town Council over their decision!
The Chairman of the Carnival is of course John Trickey, recently back from European travels.
I note that he is also the Chief Executive Officer of Miss European of which he says "Miss European is special in that it is not just about beauty on the outside, but the beauty that comes from within" .

So that's all right then.

Carnivals are a thing we all remember with affection if we are of a certain age, full of beautifully decorated floats, marching bands etc now they are a complete waste of time unless they are the really big ones.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Still doing a marvellous carnival in the town I was 'brought up' in!
Wot! No beauty queens?
