I've been looking at porperty in the Dover area and have noticed that property in Martin Mill seems a lot cheaper than i expect it to be.
Is it cheap because of the remoteness?

i wouldn't fancy trying to drive out of there when the snow is on the ground steve.
they have 3 buses a day monday to saturday that are always covered in mud in good weather.

Thanks for your quick reply.
I noticed that the bus service in St Margarets has IMPROVED greatly since i went to school there.
Do they get any buses on Sundays?
Are the lower prices connected to the remoteness?

Martin Mill does of course have a rail station with one train each hour to Dover, Folkestone and beyond (i.e. London) and one per hour to Deal and beyond (that's Sandwich and Ramsgate).
Show could be a problem on the relatively rare occasions we get it although no worse than any other village on higher ground in the South Kent area (and probably less of a problem than some).
As to why prices are lower, maybe try some field research at The Lantern pub in nearby Martin?
Now, if Martin Mill got High Speed Trains too...

steve,
there are a number of cheaper houses out there, but the housing market is having a problem at the moment with thre crisis looming in the country.
but as has been said facilities are probably fewer
but pair that up with the relaxed less activity compared to a town
it's about what best suits you

It's a lovely little spot Martin Mill and St Margarets is beautiful.
However, young people I know living in both villages often complain about connectivity and cost. It has even been suggested to me that if you get 3 people you know waiting at the bus stop in St Margarets, it is cheaper to phone a taxi! I do remember last time that I got a bus there from Dover, feeling that the difference in cost and distance between there and Deal seemed disproportionate.
However if you have a car, it wouldn't necessarily be a problem...unless there was some kind of fuel shortage prompted by an inept government.
Of course I would be more worried (as a resident) about the price of houses if I knew the bass player from a heavy metal band was moving in!

We've had many meals in The Lantern and would recommend it to anyone. The food is home made and delicious and the atmosphere in there is wonderful. My youngest son proposed to his then girlfriend in there, she said yes and they are now married with two children!

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Steve , as ward cllr for the area I can confirm Martin Mill is a peaceful community with mixed modern closes of bungalows & houses, matched with individual styled bungalows & houses along the Roman Rd & Station Rd.
