Was shocked to see this buzz past the car this evening near Grove Ferry. Quickly stopped the car and grabbed the camera from the boot. With a 1.5m wingspan it was massive... a Marsh Harrier !!
I once saw a red kite near the Barville roundabout. Didn't have a decent camera with me but anyway it was gone in a flash with a small animal in its talons.

Beautiful pics. And what a beautiful bird. Reminds me of when I first dragged he-who-thinks-he-has-something-to-say-about-anything down to Dungeness. He met up with an acquaintance and wishing to impress him said that we had just seen a harsh marrier. Believe me, I have never let him forget it!
