Perhaps we should face the facts that the days of the traditional High Street Market are over along with the idea of 'market day' and 'early closing day'?

Whilst there is a growing market for high class niche markets, see Borough Market, Winchester or Whitstable for examples, the whole idea of all towns having a weekly street market where rural visitors would flock in to get 'hard to get items' no longer exists when almost everything is 'just a click away' delivered to your door.

Like with the 'Johnny Onion Man' and the peripatetic Knife Grinder of my youth, the world and retail have moved on.
