I am eager to see councillors leading the way by volunteering to help the homeless, not just talk about it but actually do something that resolves the problem. If that actually happens, many locals would surely follow, but if not, the Cllrs have actually served the community, consisting also of the homeless. Howard rightly reminded us of our position in the world economy. Maybe if a way is shown from the lower levels , our government get shamed into eradicating poverty at the level their policies over the years have created. The devide between the have's and have not becomes ever greater. I am told this town council has a million plus in the bank and lots of empty properties, surely there must be a way forward? Many people on benefits with time on their hands , likely some have useful skills..put it all together, Cllrs leading the way, worth a try.
