My word, why bother putting yourself forward as a volunteer when keyboard warriors, posting under pseudonyms, are so quick to excoriate. As a founder member and director of the Town Team I asked countless times on here if people were prepared to give up a bit of time, as usual no offers were received. Lets clear some things up: we were given £10,000, it was held by DDC who made us jump through all sorts of hoops to get a penny of it. We started the market, engaged local college kids in painting hoardings, cleaned up empty shops and decorated with prints and posters and ran a scheme where local entrepreneurs were given advice and money in order to set up businesses.
Christine.a, whoever you are, why not set up a commercial estate agents in the town, compete with Tersons and show us all how it should be done?
